Medium-sized distribution center
Description of the project
In distribution centres, logistics is usually in two directions; goods enter the centre and goods leave the centre. In the worst case, both material flows become packaging or other side stream waste, which must be collected and packed in a particularly efficient manner so as not to disrupt the transport chain and delay deliveries to the final customer. In this distribution center, the challenge was the amount of PET plastic and aluminum that would come as a side stream. From month to month, more than 45,000 lavas were produced each month of both verses, in total therefore more than 90,000 lavas.
There were two challenges: 1. how to get such a quantity of material into the presses without requiring labor from the staff and 2. how to get a sufficient load packed into the presses so that the transportation costs would not burden the distribution center too much? Kapasity designed a solution in which a tipping device was designed for the customer, precisely for their use, that stays at the same pace as the material is generated. Specially made screw presses were installed behind the pouring equipment, which gave load weights 2 to 2.5 times that of the previous presses.
